1. Who we are
VerifyUniverse (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a United States company established in 2025. Our principal place of business is 1386 Maley Hollow Rd, Dayton, Tennessee 37321, USA. We provide dedicated virtual phone numbers for receiving verification codes, SMS and related communications in selected markets (currently United States, United Kingdom and Australia).
For privacy questions, email [email protected] or call +1 (216) 202-9569.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the service, we may collect:
- Account information — name, email address, password (stored hashed), and preferences such as preferred market.
- Billing information — payment details processed by our payment provider (for example card last four digits, billing country). We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Service data — numbers assigned to you, plan terms, purchase history, and usage metadata needed to operate the inbox (for example timestamps and delivery status).
- Message content — inbound SMS (and, where enabled, voicemail or call metadata) delivered to numbers you hold, so we can show them in your inbox.
- Support communications — messages you send via our contact form, email or phone.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, device basics and similar logs needed for security, abuse prevention and reliability. We do not currently run third-party advertising or behavioral analytics cookies.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- Create and manage accounts, provision numbers and deliver your inbox.
- Process payments, prevent fraud and enforce our Terms and Acceptable Use Policy.
- Provide customer support and respond to inquiries.
- Maintain security, troubleshoot issues and improve reliability.
- Comply with law and respond to lawful requests from authorities or carriers where required.
- Send transactional notices (for example receipts, expiry reminders). Marketing emails, if any, will include an unsubscribe option.
We do not sell your personal information, message content or metadata for advertising.
4. Messages and virtual numbers
Virtual numbers receive SMS and related traffic from third parties (for example platforms sending one-time codes). Message content is stored so you can read it in your VerifyUniverse inbox for as long as your retention settings and plan allow. When you release a number, we delete or de-associate its inbox history from your account according to our retention practices, subject to any legal hold or fraud-investigation needs.
Telecommunications carriers and number providers process signaling and delivery data as part of routing messages to your number. Those providers act as processors or independent controllers under their own policies for network operation.
5. When we share information
We may share information with:
- Service providers — payment processors, hosting, email delivery, and telephone number / messaging providers who help us run the product under contractual obligations.
- Legal and safety — when required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of the service (including investigating spam, fraud or abuse).
- Business transfers — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, information may transfer subject to continued privacy protections.
We do not sell personal information as that term is commonly understood under US state privacy laws.
6. Retention
We keep account and billing records for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for tax, dispute and compliance purposes. Inbox messages follow retention settings you control where available; otherwise we keep them while you hold the number and for a short period after release unless law or abuse investigation requires longer retention. Security logs are kept for limited periods appropriate to detecting and investigating misuse.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data — including encrypted transport (HTTPS), access controls and hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; please use a strong unique password and contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
We use essential cookies and local storage for core site function (for example remembering that you accepted this notice, and keeping you signed in when accounts are available). Preference storage may remember simple UI choices. We do not currently use third-party advertising or analytics cookies. You can clear cookies and site data in your browser at any time; doing so may reset preferences including this notice.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
If you are in the European Economic Area, UK or similar jurisdictions, our processing is typically based on contract performance (providing the service you request), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, product improvement) or consent where required (for example non-essential cookies if we add them later). This policy is not a certification of GDPR compliance or a claim of specific regulatory seals.
California and other US state residents may have additional rights under applicable privacy statutes; contact us to exercise them. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
10. Children
The service is not directed to children under 16 (or the age of digital consent in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be highlighted on the site or by email when appropriate.
